    Pre-participation Physical Examinations

Before sports participation, student athletes are required to undergo a pre-participation physical exam (PPE) also, known as a sports physical. The purpose of the PPE is not to disqualify or exclude student athletes from competition, but to help maintain the health and safety of the athlete in training and competition. The content of the exam should include a detailed medical history and a physical exam. In the state of Kentucky a PPE is good for one year only.
