    TRDHD's IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM

Disease Prevention is the key to public health. It is always best to prevent a disease than to treat it. Vaccines prevent disease in the people who receive them and protect those who come into contact with unvaccinated individuals. Vaccines help prevent infectious diseases and save lives (www.cdc.gov) .

Childhood immunizations that are available to prevent disease are: diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, pneumonia, hepatitis A & B, chickenpox, rotavirus and influenza.

Adolescent immunizations include: human papillomavirus (HPV),  meningococcal, tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, and influenza.

Adult vaccines include: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, pneumonia, shingles, hepatitis A&B, influenza, and HPV

    2009 Vaccine Highlight:
Three Rivers District Health Department answered the call of the community during the H1N1 outbreak. The health department set up mass H1N1 clinics in each county. We were able to serve many residents during the clinic as well as, after. Our goal is to continue to educate and encourage vaccinating against H1N1.
